Whitewright reached its goal in the 1976 United Fund Campaign. Doyle Worsham, president, announced the goal of 4000 dollars was slightly oversubscribed. He thanked officers, volunteers, Bill Dyer as campaign chairman, and Whitewright citizens and firms for their support. Eighty percent of funds will stay in the community for local agencies.

Continental Telephone Rate Increase On City Agenda
The Continental Telephone Co seeks higher rates for business and residential customers. Tigers Beat Royse City In Home Basketball Clash
Whitewright Tigers opened with a 55 to 42 win over Royse City on their home court led by Steve Hodge who scored 26 and grabbed 14 rebounds Willie Ballard added 9 points and 9 rebounds while Ricky A Rice and Ballard carried strong defense. The Tigers then beat Leonard 72 to 49 on the road with Willie Ballard 22 points Steve Hodge 16 and Ballard again contributing rebounds and solid defense.

Stolen Pistol Recovered In Whitewright Trade Day
A pistol stolen in Hunt County last summer was recovered in Whitewright during November trades day. Chief Leroy Duquette said the owner recognized the pistol and officers recovered it from a man who said he bought it. The case was turned over to Hunt County officers.

Whitewright Scouts Win Texoma Valley Camporee Honors
Whitewright Scouts Troop 54 topped the Texoma Valley Fall camporee at Camp Grayson on Lake Texoma with 89 of 105 points earning ribbons and a merit award. Scoutmaster Butch Morgan and assistant Floyd Flowers led 200 attendees through a bicentennial themed two day event with four contests including first aid with a fallen rider, a Washington message relay, a Bunker Hill obstacle course, and a tent pitching timed trial. New members Atnip Freeman Kent Lonnie Barnes joined the troop. senior leaders included Mike Flower Chuck Wilson Jim Butler Scott Thompson Randy Atnip Freeman Kent.
