Bonham High School defeated Whitewright 6 to 0 at Rather Field in a hard fought game. Star players Crouch and McBrayer shined for Bonham while Whitewright battled hard, despite the narrow final margin.
Dalton Kenton, a dairyman, was fatally wounded by an accidental shotgun discharge while duck hunting. He crawled forty feet to his automobile, started it, and drove a short distance before collapsing. A passing motorist took him to a hospital where he died.
Austin reports October gasoline tax collections by the Comptroller's Department total 310000, slightly higher than September. The Central Christian Church invites all to hear evangelists McMurray and Shaw next Lordsday with services at 11 a.m. and 4 45 p.m. Bro McMurray is praised as a powerful North Texas preacher. The Bible School will give a Thanksgiving offering to Juliette Fowler Orphan Home.

Grayson County reports 71 294 bales of cotton ginned by November 14, up from 54 491 bales ginned by the same date in 1923. Government reporter Ralph Johnson provides the figures.
Austin citizens proceed with the inaugural ball and reception at the State Capitol on January 20. Invitations will feature embossed Texas Capitol imagery and the seal, with Mrs Ferguson titled Her Excellency for the first time. The event will be funded by local citizens and hosted at two hotels to handle overflow.

His son Earl, about 40, lost both eyes and suffered serious injuries from a dynamite cap explosion in Ardmore, delaying his arrival. Work will proceed under the senior partner with a tent camp on the old Blackwood gin site to complete the 2.8 mile gap.
Last Friday Honest Bill's wild animal and acrobatics show drew a large crowd. The circus troupe won praise for honesty and fair dealing, winning friends during their brief stay in the city.
Jack Forrest returns to Whitewright and buys a cottage from Joe Hamilton in East Whitewright and the adjacent Kimbell property. He tears down the Kimbell house east of the city pump station after the purchase.

Forty four Atlanta New Orleans and New York cotton brokers including a New York Cotton Exchange official face indictments returned by the Fulton County grand jury arising from an investigation into alleged illegal futures on margins by the Atlanta Cotton Exchange. Principal firms operate nationally with Atlanta agents also named. More indictments expected.
Budget Director Lord announced that federal expenses for the fiscal year starting July 1 1925 will be within 1.8 billion dollars. The figure excludes interest on and retirement of the public debt and other fixed charges.
Hearings on the contests to unseat Senator Earle B. Mayfield of Texas will resume next week after Congress convenes. Announcement came this afternoon from Senator Spencer of Missouri, chair of the Senate elections committee.
The California Quartet will headline the next lyceum program on December 9 sponsored by the Parent Teacher Association. Season tickets are encouraged and Mrs. Tom Barbee can assist. The series includes four more performances, with the upcoming one representing the cost of a season ticket.
Ben Sturdivant of Southern Methodist University Dallas is elected member of the Junior Arden Club. The club rehearses a four act play The Cassilis Engagement to be presented in December.
W F Callander, chairman of the Federal crop reporting board, urged banning cotton crop forecasts before August 1 or August 15 each season. He argued forecasts in bales are fragile and may change with later weather and factors. The talk also touched on semi monthly reports and market fluctuations. A local high school domestic science class displayed department products in a storefront window, under Miss Laura Price.
Optometrist R. L. Johnson offers eye examinations and proper glasses fitting with guaranteed satisfaction.
Samuel Gompers was unanimously re elected president of the American Federation of Labor at the forty fourth annual convention in Paso Robles. The vote continued his 43 year service with eight vice presidents and officers also re elected. Morrison enters his twenty eighth year as secretary.
The First National Bank of San Angelo must pay Mrs. W. A. Glasscock $495 after paying a forged check from her deposit. The Texas Supreme Court ruled the bank bears the loss because the forger’s act caused the error, not the drawer’s negligence. The case settles a long-standing Texas legal principle.
Milwaukee case notes government action against an ex soldier for $9 alleged overpayment during the war. District Attorney R L Morse says similar suits for slightly larger sums have been filed by the War Department against several ex soldiers in the district.
Judge Jim Reeves of the Houston Corporation Court fined 189 petty offenders as the community chest drive neared its goal and donated the 1065 dollars to the fund. The Whitewright native’s gesture drew praise from friends and locals.
Up to Tuesday noon the three local gins handled 6048 bales this season. About 400 bales have arrived at the public yard from other points. The season nears completion with receipts expected to reach 6500 bales. Staple sold at 23 to 24 cents per pound this week with several hundred unsold bales held by producers.
Miss Tommie Chenoweth received $400 found in the books of First State Bank of Sabinal after a Dallas auditing firm verified accounts. The balance credited to T. J. Chenoweth belonged to the late Sabinal native who moved to Whitewright nine years ago. He died in 1920 and the family learned of the balance upon receipt of a bank statement.
Local union news reports that the Odd Fellows have canceled their weekly meeting for the Thanksgiving service held at Central Christian Church on Thursday night.
Whitewright roared to a 39 to 0 win over Whitesboro on the local field in a season finale. Bailey scored five touchdowns and kicked three extra points as the Rangers dominated from the opening kickoff.
Mrs Warren G Harding was laid in Marion Cemetery receiving vault beside her husband after brief services. Government representatives included Secretary of War Hubert Work and naval aide Capt Adolphus Andrews. Soldiers guarding the tomb and a Fort Hayes detachment added military dignity. Funeral route mirrored the late President Harding procession.
The Presbyterian Church ladies at the cotton exchange building held a rummage sale last Saturday with strong patronage throughout the day and raised a neat sum for church benevolences.
E A Lewers of Calera Okla identified the man found in a Katy railway culvert near the city as his son Savoy Lewers. The body was found Friday afternoon November 14 and relatives took charge for burial in Calera. Lewers left Calera with cousin Paul Ray Monday November 10 and traveled via Alba to Greenville before continuing toward Calera.
Frank Norfleet, Hale Center ranchman and pursuer of a crook gang that swindled him of 45000 dollars, announces a vaudeville engagement in Tulsa after Fort Worth. His pursuit of the gang made him internationally famous and inspired his book Norfleet.
When he proposed he lost his head and quickly told his fiancé. She remained calm and placed her head on his shoulder, turning the moment into a playful embrace.
