Nine Tigers Named To All-District All-District Nine Honors

Nine Tigers football players earned 14-A district honors with both defensive and offensive selections. Darrell Dyer Allan Harper E J Durham John Chesser Steve Fortner Bobby Branham Jimmy Bryant Marvin Atterberry Philip Huffman were named among defense and offense.

All-District Football Honors Named With Cast of 14 Players

Honey Grove guard Eddie Scott earned outstanding lineman honors as Curtis McBeth of Wolfe City claimed top back recognition. Whitewright led with nine selections, Van Alstyne and Wolfe City had five, Whitesboro four, Honey Grove two, and Fannindel one as coaches picked the district’s best players under voting rules.

Demonstration Club Hears Vivian Blair Communication

Whitewright Home Demonstration Club met at Miss Lattice Brown's home with twelve members and three guests. Mrs. Vivian Blair, County Home Demonstration Agent, presented Family Communication. Members planned a December 9 luncheon at Town and County Restaurant, a Christmas party at Ann Burns's home, and lap spreads for nursing home patients.

Fireman Supper Brings Large Turnout and Profit

Whitewright Volunteer Firemen chief Homer Ryon reported that more than 500 people attended the Swiss Steak Supper on November 14 at the Fireman's Hall. Gross earnings reached 728.50 dollars with a 446.50 dollar profit after expenses. The event sold out, bread donated by Wonderbread Co of Dallas, and members approved paying gasoline expenses for three attendees to Grayson County Volunteer Fireman's Association and installing a radiator grill protector on the new fire truck.

Pigskin Club Plans January Sports Banquet

Pigskin Club members met November 16 to plan an all sports banquet scheduled January 22 at 7 30 p m in the high school gymnasium. Players on the varsity teams will receive awards at the event.

Fall Fashion Show By Homemaking Classes At PTA Meeting

Rick Of The Crop era students modeled fall wear from Miss Annette Snider's classes 11 and II during a school gym PTA program. Girls showcased midi to mini dresses, pant suits, hot pants and coordinates on a farm scene with Pat Marlow at the piano and Jane Biggerstaff narrating.

Whitewright relay races set Thanksgiving day events

Around Town Fifteen features entertainment by Fifteen and 200 bores at the Whitewright Riding Club relay races on November 28. Races take place at the relay grounds on U.S. 69 east of town, starting 1 p.m. Teams include Texas Westerneers Texoma Quarter Horse Association Blue Ridge Riding Club Arlington Saddle Club Colleyville Saddle Club McKinney Pinto Club Van Alstyne Saddle Club Circle C of Carrollton. Each team runs two races, winner by best combined time. Prizes: 25 15 10. Judges Woodley McCarley and Dub Biliner.

Library Bazaar Clears Record With $701.36 Raised

The Library Bazaar last Saturday cleared $701.36 from items donated and contributions. Hand-painted china plate by Mrs C J Meador sold for $60 and a specialty cake by Mrs Sullivan earned $10. Mrs George Pendleton of Durant won the china painting. Mrs Tom Brookshear won the cake. Proceeds fund a cooling system for the library and expansion of the children's section. over 50 people contributed time and items.

Friday Literary Club meets at Community Public Service

The Friday Literary Club convened in the Reddy Room with seventeen present including guest Mrs. Sue Brinkley. President Mrs. Bill McFatridge led the meeting as reports from committees were heard and two patients from the local nursing home were adopted for gifts and visits. Mrs. R P Childress was program chairman and introduced the ladies as coffee and cake were served by Mrs. Steve Sullivan and Mrs. Charles Sessom.
