Bright Lights for Tiger Stadium Plans Outlined

Dr Stephen Sullivan and local citizens meet at Firemans Hall to outline a stadium revitalization for Tiger Stadium. Funds raised reach about 1400 of the roughly 2500 needed with plans for 48 quartz Mercury vapor lamps an above ground sprinkler system pipe donated by Wolfe Brothers Construction Co. field improvements include straightening tilts breaking down leveling top soil seeding and spring fertilization for 1972 grid season and a overhauled play by play audio system. Community involvement urged with labor or machine donations in addition to money.

Council Accepts Police Resignations In Whitewright

The Whitewright city council accepted the resignations of Police Chief Jerry Pierce and Patrolman Leroy Duquette effective Dec 1 leaving the city briefly without police protection. Mayor Smith said coverage will be sought from the sheriff and highway patrol until a replacement is hired.

Chamber Sets Christmas Parade Plans

Plans for the annual Christmas Parade by the Chamber of Commerce were finalized. Chairman Robert Sale and co chair Jay Philpot will marshal the event with line up by 12 30 at American Legion Park. Riders clubs floats and walks compete for prizes. Santa will close the parade escorted by the police chief.

Whitewright Lodge to vote on selling building

At the December 6 stated meeting the Whitewright Masonic Lodge will consider a resolution from the Building and Finance committees to sell the current building subject to approval by the Grand Master or Grand Lodge. Worshipful Master Milton Simpson noted the agenda includes reports from those who were involved.

Riding Club Relay Winners Triumph In Local Meet

The Texas Westernaires of Euless edged Whitewright Riding Club to win the relay contest sponsored by the local club on Sunday. Whitewright took second, Wylie Riding Club finished third with prizes of 25 dollars for first, 15 for second, and 10 for third.
