Freight from Dallas and nearby points is now hauled to Whitewright by Katy trucks with a Dallas departure at 1 30 a m daily Mon Fri and arrival at 5 45 a m for unloading. George Bennett handles local Katy deliveries and outbound freight is collected for depot transfer by Katy trucks. Southern Pacific trucks had run local freight for about a year after Northeast Texas Motor Lines failed.

Bob Lynch named assistant Grayson County farm agent by county agent Nick Owen. Lynch fills the post left vacant by Charles Mills who resigned for health reasons. He is a Lamar County native and Texas A M graduate, previously assistant manager at Callan Santa Gertrudis Ranch near Eddy, Waco.
The Sherman McKinney District plans a church conference at First Church Sherman on Sunday November 27 at 1 00 a m to elect five regular and five alternate delegates for the district conference in Sherman December 5 The event also serves as final call for the Golden Cross offering supporting Dallas Methodist Hospital and other Methodist hospitals A Thanksgiving Christmas banquet for the district MYF is set for Monday November 28 at 7 00 p m at First Methodist with Rev Larry Meredith of Dallas as master of ceremonies Tickets cost 75 cents per plate All MYF members from Wright are invited and visitors are welcome
The Whitewright schools will dismiss this Wednesday afternoon for Thanksgiving and resume Monday. Supt. S. T. Montgomery Jr also announced Christmas and Easter schedules. Christmas dismissal is Tuesday afternoon December 20 with a January 3 return, a 13 day break. Easter dismissal Friday with Monday return follows the usual weekend pattern.
Tennessee Senator Estes Kefauver appears poised to enter the 1956 Democratic race against Adlai E. Stevenson of Illinois. He has pledges for over 200000 dollars in funds and faces a strong Stevenson organization with Harriman waiting on the sidelines. Party leaders predict Stevenson as favorite though Kefauver backers expect a tough, uphill battle.
The Agriculture Department announced a Dec 1 rate increase for private funds used in financing the price support program. Private lenders will see a rise to 2.5 percent, while the farmers’ loan rate remains 3 percent. The govt absorbs the lenders’ higher costs to stimulate private investment and align with other borrowing.

West Germany's supreme court ruled a physician must try to ease pain in patients with serious diseases. The decision arose from a cancer case in which a doctor refused to prescribe a pain killer, with failure to relieve pain deemed bodily injury.
