Funeral services for Walter A. Fain 71 held in McKinney
Walter A. Fain known as Baldy, 71, died Monday in McKinney where he had lived. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Earnheart Chapel with Rev. Grady May and Rev. John W. Polk officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his wife Myrtle March Fain and four sisters. His sisters-in-law Mrs. Mollie Kirkpatrick and Mrs. Laud Larson attended the Fain service along with other relatives.

251.5 Bushels Win Texas Corn Contest
Royce Turner of Muleshoe won the Texas hybrid corn contest with 251.5 bushels per acre from Texas Hybrid 17 planted May 6 and harvested Oct. 24. He earns $100 and a plaque. Austin de Laughter of Texarkana had the top yield without irrigation at 175 bushels per acre from 13 acres of Texas Hybrid 30, planted April 1 and harvested Sept. 8. The 1955 state average was 23.5 bushels per acre, up 74 percent from 1954.
