Mrs. C B Bryant chairman of Sherman chapter Red Cross asks Whitewright women to begin knitting for troops. She seeks volunteers to supply yarn and receive instructions from Red Cross headquarters and says the auxiliary must provide sweaters mufflers helmets socks and wristlets. Bryant will be at Red Cross rooms on Wednesdays to distribute yarn.
Earl West, a former McKinney resident who enlisted in the marine corps at Dallas and formerly worked for his uncles Ed and Lee West, is listed as missing after a subbed boat incident near McKinney, Texas, on November 10.

A barn on J. D. Patterson farm one mile north of town burned Saturday night destroying a barn shed stock including three mules three yearlings three hogs about two hundred bushels of corn oats and cotton seed along with a cotton planter cultivator and other gear. Mr Rogers owner of stock lost a horse and reported no insurance. Patterson's losses around 1000.
Governor William P. Hobby flew over San Antonio and reviewed 25 000 troops at Camp Travis in a dramatic departure from duties. He then visited Kelly Field where aviation trainees soared, piloted by Maj J W Heard with Adjutant General Harley aboard and an aerial escort.
Sam Benson a 13 year old from Rock Island was taken from a Rock Island train in Chickasha Oklahoma by an officer at Bridgeport Texas request. He said he intended to join Camp Fuston Kansas to enlist as a drummer or bugler with Uncle Sam. He explained Kansas troops were to move to the front ahead of Texas camps. He was returned to Bridgeport.
The big Jesse James show arrives Tuesday night November 20 with thirty people and a twenty piece band performing for local fans.
President Wilson orders a complete reorganization of the draft system to classify nine million men and place them in roles best suited to their skills. Doctors lawyers county judges police and private citizens will assist in registration examinations and mobilization with completion aimed in sixty days and the second draft delayed until after January 15.
W W Bunch of Sherman county reports a hired man vanished after sending a load of corn to Sherman. The man, who had only worked three days, sold the corn to C C Morris for 39 dollars and has not been seen since. Bunch found the team tied up. search continues as officers investigate.
Washington reports 1,735,820 soldiers and 271,571 sailors under arms totaling over two million. A forthcoming draft call could add about 500,000. The grand total may exceed 2,500,000 men for Americas effort against Germany.
W. H. Schroeder was arrested on a charge of false swearing and arraigned before Justice McCrary, held on a $500 bond. He had secured a marriage license to Wed Miss Hatty Lee Benedict, near six miles north in Whiterock, with Rev. J. H. Baxter presiding. The ceremony occurred in an auto as the couple were joined on a road near the house.
The auto stopped and a young woman appeared as Mr. Baxter performed the ceremony. The license was handed to him and the couple was taken back to town. The affidavit was filed by W. T. Benedict. Baxter believed there was no opposition to the marriage.
Dallas County police report an average of fewer than three drunkenness arrests per day since prohibition took effect, versus over fifteen daily arrests when saloons operated. From Oct 21 to Oct 31, 26 arrests occurred, while September saw 138.
