The City Council purchased a Brockway Type B motor fire truck from American LaFrance to replace horse drawn gear. The 40 horsepower Continental motor truck carries 1200 feet of hose, ladders, extinguishers, a 40 gallon chemical tank, and 200 feet of chemical hose. It weighs 5460 pounds and costs 3500 dollars, aiming to save on horse maintenance and horsepower fuel while improving response time and night visibility.
