Henry Whitman Phillips 65 died at 4 21 p m last Sunday in Sherman hospital after six months illness Funeral services were held 2 00 p m Tuesday at Barnhart chapel Rev C C Dooley and Rev Fred Waldrop officiated Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery Pallbearers were Guy Stepp James H Gosnell Lloyd Alexander Dwayne Caylor T D Caylor and Carl Holland He was born September 25 1892 on the family farm west of Whitewright and was a son of Mrs Sarah Phillips and the late W H Phillips He attended Whitewright schools Carlisle Military Academy Grayson College and Austin College He married in 1916 at Kentuckytown and served as Kentuckytown postmaster 1918 1922 He also worked in Oklahoma oil fields but was a farmer He was a member of the Kentuckytown Baptist Church Surviving are a daughter Mrs Betty Minney of Sherman his mother Mrs Sarah Phillips of Whitewright two sisters Miss Viva Phillips and Mrs Buddy Stephens of Whitewright four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services held for Joseph Hendrix Burchfield 71
Funeral services were held at Earnheart chapel for Joseph Hendrix Burchfield 71 with Rev. Fred W. Wal drop and Rev. C. C. Dooley officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery. He died at home after 12 years illness. Born January 20 1886 in Clark County Arkansas he married Ester Veteto in 1907 and moved to Texas in 1935. Surviving are his wife seven sons three daughters two brothers three sisters and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs Bertha Carter Wilburn 72 died at home in Clarendon. Funeral services set for Friday in Clarendon with graveside rites Saturday at Whitewright City Cemetery at 3 pm conducted by Rev C C Dooley. She will lie in state at Barnhart Funeral Home 1 to 3 pm. Survived by son George Carter of Fort Worth and daughter Annie Laura Gilpin of Fort Worth.

At the last meeting the Whitewright department reported a clear profit of about 50 dollars after paying all bills from the bar-ber. Weather and sickness affected operations while plans were set to modernize equipment including a flat tank for the Ford truck to better store the 212 inch hose. Indoor drill focused on plug locations and left right orientation.

They have long resided in Kentuckytown and Bethel. Last Sunday their home southwest of Whitewright burned, destroying furnishings and clothing.
