Masons to Meet Monday in Whitewright Lodge Event

Thanksgiving Service At First Presbyterian Church

The United Presbyterian Women met at the First Presbyterian Church on Monday for a covered dish luncheon. Mrs. Paul Cook presided, Mrs. Ora Gray read the devotional from Psalm 100, Miss Mardell Pumphrey gave the Year Book of Prayer, and Mrs. H H Sears led a Praise Thanks and Faith program. Fifteen members and four guests attended.

Whitewright to Brighten Downtown with Yule Lights

Whitewright's Chamber of Commerce plans 250 dollars for downtown Christmas lights after a noon luncheon at Fireman's Hall. If funds grow, more donations may follow. Parade entries are sought for December 4 with trophies for top three, and a library window project may begin after pledges.

Miss GCC 1976 77 Crown Goes To Peggy Forehand

Sherman freshman Peggy Forehand was crowned Miss GCC 1976 77 at Grayson County College’s 12th annual pageant on November 4 in the auditorium. Vicky Hames and three other runners up included Karen Fobbs Cindy Christian Patti Donohoe. Forehand will receive a $100 scholarship and serve as college hostess at industrial shows and local parades.

Baptist Plans Big Revival at Whitewright Church

The First Baptist Church of Whitewright announces a week long revival starting November 14 with 11 am and 6 pm services and 7 30 pm evening meetings. Rev bus nambe of Jacksonville will headline as evangelist assisted by John Morgan of Trinity Baptist Sherman leading music. Special prayer sessions are planned at the church and in members homes each day.

Roberts to Speak At VA Ceremony

The Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center in Bonham will mark 25 years with a Thursday ceremony at 2 p.m. featuring Fourth District Congressman Ray Roberts as principal speaker. VA officials Dale Grubb and Dr. Richard N. Filer join local leaders including Choice Moore and Mayor Bob Williams as tours follow. The center, dedicated by Speaker Sam Rayburn in 1951, serves north Texas and southern Oklahoma veterans and has provided care and employment for thousands, including workers from Whitewright.

Membership Of Rotary Club Is Meeting Topic

Chuck Wilson, past president of Whitewright Rotary, was program chairman at Friday's luncheon and urged members to seek new Rotary members to strengthen community and international service. The club funds international scholarships and will host District Gov. Hubert Owens on Nov. 19. An assembly is planned for Nov. 18. Scott Wilson was named student Rotarian of the month, son of Mr and Mrs William Wilson.

Healing in the Middle East program at Bethel WMU meeting

Mrs. England hosted Bethel WMU with Mrs. Alva Key leading a program titled Healing in the Middle East that highlighted mission work in Muslim and Hindu nations. Members Viola McKinney Edith Alexander Mayme Lewis Jessie Williams assisted. prayers led by Mrs. Billie Bartley and Mrs. Vera Wetzel. Next program at Mrs. Viola McKinney's home.
