Whitewright high school logistics ease with ticket info and parking reminders for the Whitewright Tigers versus Princeton game at Bearcat Stadium in Sherman. Tickets at the principal's office are 2.50 for adults and 1.50 for children, with gate prices 50 cents higher.
Whitewright residents and visitors built snowmen around town on Saturday, an early season event that delighted children and the young at heart. L. L. Wendell recalled similar snows from the 1930s and 1940s as the few remaining packed figures lingered on Monday.
Veterans of WWI Barracks 81 and auxiliary held an Armistice dinner November 11 at the Grayson County courthouse. Whitewright attendees included Mr and Mrs Dusty Rhodes Mrs Fred Garner and others. Curtis district commander reported on the Commerce meeting and May district gathering in Sherman. Snowfall blanketed northern Texas with up to four inches in some areas and eight inches at Guadalupe Pass. travel warnings issued and clearing began Sunday afternoon.
The swine flu vaccination clinic will be held at the 200 Club in Whitewright on Monday November 22 from 3 to 6 p.m. Mrs Hugh Unter president asks all volunteers to attend. Both monovalent and bivalent vaccines will be offered. Miss Leta Ball of Tom Bean and Miss Winnie Hamilton visited the Hamilton home in Mesquite.
Whitewright Tigers finish 10-0 with a Friday win over Bells to claim the 16-A title and set a bi-district game against Princeton at Bearcat Stadium in Sherman. Princeton arrives 6-4 overall 5-1 district after ISA crown clinched Friday. Ballard 196 rushing yards and Smith 144 pace Whitewright offense. Sessoms salutes line and defense amid playoff push.
Annual bazaar by the Friday Literary Club runs Saturday from 8 a.m. at the library. The Library Emporium offers Christmas ornaments, gifts, plants, cakes, pies, candy, dishes, used books and more. Proceeds support the library. Donations welcomed Friday or Saturday morning.
Whitewright City Council in special session unanimously approved applying for a $500,000 Economic Development Administration grant to build a municipal complex. The plan houses city hall fire station police station library meeting room kitchen and auditorium on city hall property with Hayter Engineering preparing plans for the application.
The Whitewright Sun will be published one day early next week due to Thanksgiving. Instead of Thursday delivery you may expect the Sun on Wednesday. Advertisers are advised to get their copy in as soon as possible.
The Whitewright Rotary club hosts District Governor Hubert Owens of District 581 for a formal visit. A Thursday dinner assembly at Firemen’s Hall precedes Friday’s noon talk on Rotary administration and the year’s program plans. Owens, Irving Rotary member, will serve until June 30, 1977.
Bethel Baptist church in Whitewright hosts a one hour color feature titled His Land. The documentary traces Israel from ancient times to modern day with Cliff Barrows and Cliff Richard performing and Ralph Carmichael’s score. Showings set for November 21 at 7 00 p.m. Everyone is invited.
