United Fund treasurer Sears Anderson reports Whitewright is about $1500 short of the $3300 goal with $1869 in cash and pledges. Joe Johnson, general chairman, urges workers to finish quickly while a strike affects southbound mail and train service.
Quarter Horse breeders excel at Texoma Quarter Horse Show in Denison on Sunday. Tater Bar stallion owned by O. G. Bow and Dick Walker takes first in halter stallion and fifth in reining. Yellow Jane filly of Mr. Walker places fifth in 1957 filly halter. Wilsons Ginger filly of Wallace Wilson is second in a strong 1957 filly class.
In St Louis, many suspects were drawn to a surplus marked offer of 25 two dollar bills for 95 dollars. Gary Stigall of the Secret Service said calls poured in but no federal law violation was found. Agents labeled it a practical joke and urged buyers to do the math.
Deputies arrested a 6-1, 180-pound teenager at a drive-in restaurant after a disturbance. His mother arrived, borrowed a deputy’s belt, and forced the youth to lower his pants as officers watched. Deputies closed the case.
Statewide results show seven of nine constitutional amendments approved with voter margins on each measure. Grayson County mirrored the state, backing Daniel for governor and Yarborough for U.S. Senate while approving seven amendments and rejecting two. Sherman and Denison also followed the state trend on the amendments.
Whitewright voters approved two of nine constitutional amendments No 3 and No 4. Amendment 3 limits county judge and justice vacancies to the commissioners court until the next general election. Amendment 4 requires officials serving four year terms to resign when seeking another office if over one year remains. Other amendments failed. State results show Democrats sweeping local offices with Republicans barely voting in governor and senate races.

Friday serves Salmon Loaf with English Peas Pineapple Cheese Salad rolls and Cake with Icing.
Funeral services were held in Sherman for Robert Levi Hamilton 81 who died in Fort Worth. Burial was in Cross Roads Cemetery. survivors include three daughters and four sons. Separate services for Carl McAfee 67 were in Trenton with burial in Burns Cemetery. McAfee was a World War I veteran and survived by his wife, a daughter, siblings, and grandchildren.
Alvis Talbert Barkley aged 38 died Monday morning in a Waco hospital. He was general manager of Williams Drug Company, which runs six drug stores in Waco. Funeral services were held in Waco and burial followed at Memorial Park. He was active in civic and religious affairs and is survived by his wife three children three brothers a sister Mrs Harper and parents Mr and Mrs E P Barkley of Dallas.
President Eisenhower attributed Southern GOP victories to tradition of economic caution and pledged to cut federal spending in his remaining two years. He criticized Democratic spenders and urged conservatives, newspapers, and informed citizens to join in the fiscal battle nationwide.
