Two of the three Leonard Bank robbers, who tied officials and escaped with 3500 on May 10, were seized during a Saturday night attempt in Eldorado Arkansas. A third man fled. both captives face prior sentences for bank robbery. Extradition papers to Bonham were requested.
Local men and an oil drilling company have secured leases near Valley Creek three miles north and west of Leonard. A new test is expected within 30 to 60 days after contracts finalize, following an earlier unsuccessful test but optimism remains high about oil possibilities in the area.
Sherman reports Grayson County crops showing rapid improvement over the past week. Oats and corn favor growth, alfalfa yields strong, cotton and other forage crops expanding, with rain needed for late plantings. Fruit and vegetable prospects look good including peaches plums grapes potatoes cabbage and tomatoes.

B P Morrow a prescription clerk at Bow Wright drug store claims a method to destroy chicken mites. He reportedly burned his chicken house after cleaning it and laying excelsior then lighting a fire. The house and mites were destroyed though the building was not insured.
A $250 reward is posted by Governor Moody for the recapture of Will R. Jones, labeled lifer, who escaped during a 2 day furlough while reportedly visiting his sick mother. Jones was convicted of murder in Smith County for the slaying of his wife.
Miss Eunice Turner hosted the Kentuckytown Self Help Club gathering led by president Mrs. Carl Holland. Reports were given, talks on pantry value and standard recipes were presented, and a kitchen apron demonstration by county agent Miss Inez Derryberry is planned for June 8 at Mrs. Arthur Badgett's home.
