Honkytonks Draw Students Away From U T Dances
Senator Manley Head of Stephenville told the Senate that dances at the University of Texas no longer support the Student Union Building since honky tonks have come to Austin. He introduced a bill for a student fee of 1 dollar for the long term and 50 cents for the summer term to maintain the union. Head said patronage declined so much that dance income can no longer sustain the supervised dances venue.
