Washington May 23 With May 15 passing the United States holds no activity from major debtors on foreign obligations besides Great Britain. Britain paid 915000 in interest and 12000000 in principal on silver advances. France has named its funding commission but not ready to proceed. Britain’s total debt to US after May 15 is about 4139000000. France 3358104083. Italy 1648034050. Belgium 377564298. Officials hope Britain’s debt will be funded by July 1, while no plans exist for the others.

Black man whipped to death by masked assailants in Bryan
Bryan May 23 Colbert Wilson a Black man was whipped by unmasked men after a long public safety incident and arson spree. He died at 11 o'clock today. Wilson had been driven out of Trinity County twenty years ago after firing on whites. Officers continue to investigate.

Order Ten Per Cent Cut in Freight Rates
Washington May 24 The Interstate Commerce Commission ordered freight rate reductions averaging about 10 percent after reviewing the national rate structure. The commission said railroads may earn 5 percent on property value rather than 6 percent as previously deemed reasonable. Passenger and Pullman charges stayed the same. Agricultural products unaffected by the new cut, with previous reductions for hay and grain belts and railroads’ January 1 cut substituted where applicable.

In Denison on May 22 five men said to be part of a thief gang looting stores in towns near Denison were rounded up Sunday morning. A storehouse held two months of the gang’s activities.
