Prison Riot Suppressed by Riot Guns at State Penitentiary
Columba, S C May 8 A mutiny of 150 convicts at the state penitentiary was halted after penitentiary guards and city police wounded eleven prisoners and possibly fatally shot two. The uprising followed dinner hour as inmates resisted turning in clothing and articles. City authorities were telephoned for aid, riot guns fired, eleven inmates were wounded, the rest were rounded up without further trouble.

Two Burn to Death in Automobile Crash
Wichita Falls Texas May 6 William Saylor 50 and his daughter Emma Jo 18 were burned to death and son in law Robert Fletcher probably fatally burned Friday night at 9 when their car wrecked twenty miles south of Wichita Falls on Windthrust road. Fletcher said the daughter was driving and the car fell off a bridge. He struck a match and then lost memory. Charred bodies found after Scotland officers arrived. Fletcher fled to a nearby farm. The trio had attended the rodeo that day. Saylor is survived by a widow and five children.

White Woman Stabbed by Negro in Sherman Incident
Mrs. Sue Ross of 715 East Cherry Street was stabbed three times on the Sherman square sidewalk Saturday evening. Emma May Adams, a Negro, was arrested after Patrolman John Robertson found a pearl-handled five-inch letter opener believed to be the weapon. Mrs. Ross, treated by Dr. J A L Wolfe, suffered non life threatening injuries.
