Mrs Warner L Jones born 1854 Warren County Kentucky married 1871 died at her Dallas home May 4 1918. She lived in Whitewright area years ago then moved to Dallas. Buried at Oak Hill after funeral at the Baptist church led by Rev W J Epting. Large turnout of friends attended.
The report shows April gains in Red Cross efforts with new Bethel Auxiliary, strong member participation, and substantial hospital garment and bandage production. It lists surgical dressings, knitted articles, and cash figures, notes new officers, and honors a long faithful church member, Mrs. Jones, with survivors listed.
The city council of Whitewright Texas adopts traffic rules for Grand Avenue and Bond Street areas. Drivers must stay on the right, turn only at intersections, and park with fronts near the curb at 45 degrees within two feet. Delivery trucks may back to the curb but must exit to the right. A War Council chairman urges a Sunday May 12 rally at the Methodist church in Whitewright. The event runs 4 pm with schoolchildren providing music and mothers urged to ensure their children attend. Out of town speakers are expected.
In Grayson county the third Liberty loan went over the top with Whitewright subscribing 121 300 dollars on a 107 650 dollar quota, exceeding it by 13 650. The community welcomed the Liberty loan train as it visited Thursday afternoon.
A train visit boosted local Liberty Bond activity with about $4000 in new contributions, including $33000 from train attendees. Speaker speeches drew a large crowd led by soldier boy, with C. B. Bryant named chair of the Whitewright campaign and Mrs. J. L. Boone heading the ladies committee. Local banks processed substantial subscriptions as the third Liberty loan closed Saturday night.
Sunday school starts at 10 a m with church services at 11 a m and 8 50 p m The morning sermon title is Mother hood and the evening sermon is God a Consuming Fire A special invitation is extended to all mothers to attend the morning service. A E Major.
