New Engine for Light Plant Howard Brodhead owner of the Whitewright Electric Company purchased a 100 horsepower Skinner engine for his plant and will install it as soon as it arrives. He plans more machinery this year and will continue 24 hour service daily to supply electricity to residents and businesses.
A. A. Harden of Waco spent Saturday and Sunday visiting his father-in-law J. D. Patterson and other relatives in the area.
W. A. Gribble, a well known Sherman traveling man, was jailed Saturday night on a Justice Henry Wilson complaint charging disloyal utterances. He posted a $1,000 bond Sunday afternoon, set by the sheriff, with the charge arising from alleged remarks during a Liberty bond sales attempt.
The Ida school will present an entertainment on Thursday night May 16 for Red Cross benefit and, on the following Friday night, will hold its graduation exercises. Miss Eunice Turner serves as principal of the school.
The Whitewright Commercial criticizes Denison secretary W N King for supporting a highway route shift claiming it benefits only Bonham Wolfe City and delays Celeste and Trenton bond votes. The piece accuses King of premeditation and urges acknowledgment of error to protect communities south of Denison.

Governor W. P. Hobby will deliver a public address at the McKinney court house in Collin county on Saturday May 11. He will discuss state affairs and his administration's record, with attendance anticipated to be wide. The invitation was accepted due to relief from immediate capital matters and he will depart Austin as state business permits.
Camp Bowie reports Captain George Winters honorably discharged from army service. A Honey Grove resident, he organized Troop M at Bonham when war began. No reasons for discharge are listed in the notice.
