Donna Baker Named Valedictorian For 1975 Class
Principal Mae Woodruff announced honors for the 1975 graduates. Valedictorian Donna Baker has a 97.4 four year average and extensive academic honors including science outstanding student, National Merit Council commendation, Betty Crocker state finalist, and state science contest placement. Jay Jackson is salutatorian with 91.9 average and ROTC scholarship. Cindy Donaghey and Mari McFatridge also named as class honor students with 90 plus averages. All four will receive awards at year end.

Claire Whipple won the 65th Annual State Track Meet title at the University of Texas Austin with a 2 22.4 in the 880 yd dash, earning Whitewright High its first state championship. Beverly Blanton also excelled with a 4th in the 100 yd and 3rd in the 60. Police found three 1890s to early 1900s headstones within Whitewright city limits during the week.

Royal Service At Bethel WMU Meeting
The Bethel WMU held a Royal Service meeting Monday evening with Mrs. Jessie Williams presenting a Taiwan study. Mrs. Pat Pierce and Mrs. Weldon Bartley participated, and Mrs. Alva Key led a prayer. The business session followed, led by Mrs. Pierce, with closing prayer by Mrs. Edith Alexander. The next program is May 12 with Mrs. Louise Franklin presenting Bible study.
