Revival at Kentuckytown Baptist Church opens May 9 led by H W Stanley

The Kentuckytown Baptist Church will hold a revival beginning May 9. Evangelist H W Stanley will present messages nightly at 8 pm through the week. Everyone is invited to attend. Also notes on a grain and livestock marketing seminar sponsored by First National Bank of Whitewright with extension service, and various local social news items.

The Friday Literary Club met at Mrs R P Childress home with a program Background of America presented by Mrs Ed Barkley Mrs Steve Sullivan and Mrs Narvin Alexander. Hostesses Mrs A R Brinkley and Mrs R P Childress served refreshments to 20 members.

Water line plans discussed by Whitewright council

Whitewright officials debated replacing water mains for the Top of the Hill area while Mayor Dick Walker announced the resignation of water superintendent Chester Slaughter. The mayor refused to answer questions raised by E. Edwin Badgett and John E. Curtis, who want responses published in The Whitewright Sun and have bought space to pursue the water debate citing insufficient well water for rural users.

Water extension talks and city staffing plans at council meeting

Council discussed water line upgrades for the Top of the Hill area and potential removal of lines during highway overpass repairs slated for 1976. Talks included cancelled checks for a transmitter on the water tower and possible appointment of Felix Robinson as city judge. Rumors about Slaughter quitting and unanswered status were noted.

The spring piano recital by Mrs. Jeanette Bowen and Rhonda Bonds took place May 1 in the chapel at Whitewright Nursing Home. Roberts Seeks Confidence Vote in Whitewright Race

Voters in Whitewright backed Rep. Ray Roberts with 48 139 votes over David H. Brown 17 858 and Ben Zollner 6 127, supporting runoff chances for sheriff and county attorney races. Other local results include Steve Davidchik vs Joe Max Shelton in county attorney runoff and Jack Driscoll vs Shelby Bowling in sheriff runoff. numerous statewide tallies feature Bentsen, Gramm, and Carter across multiple races. School Custodian Is Buried Here Saturday

Services were held Saturday at Barnheart Funeral Chapel for Clifton Sanderson 63 Whitewright Elementary School custodian who died April 29 1976 in a Sherman hospital. The Rev Charles Pierce and Rev Paul Hunt officiated burial was in Oak Hill cemetery. He was born July 8 1912 in Trentor son of B L and Maggie Sanderson. He married Christine Cline on December 23 1933 in Whitewright. A retired farmer and custodian, he was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife two sons Travis of Dallas and David Wayne of Leonard one daughter Linda Sanderson of Grapevine three brothers Homer Boyd of Whitewright and Andy of Bonham three sisters Oneta Key Addie Jones of Whitewright and Bessie McCuistion of Forney pallbearers were Thomas Sanderson Billy Ross Sanderson Junior Key Kenneth Cline and C L McCuistion.

Cattlemen Will Meet Thursday at Van Alstyne Junior High

The Independent Cattlemen's Association will hold a meeting Thursday at 7 30 PM in the Van Alstyne Junior High lunch room. Barbecue will be served. Clyde Hale will discuss ICA progress. Girls Ride In Cyclethon At Bonham Race

Whitewright girls Suzanne Reynolds Denise Durham Karen Rowland Belinda Brinkley Melinda Weeks and Tona Malone rode 20 miles in the American Heart Association Cyclethon in Bonham raising over 400 dollars. They thanked all sponsors for their support.

Hudgins Promoted to Manager on Combat Grande Project

Anther A. Hudgins Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. Anther A. Hudgins Sr. of Whitewright, has been promoted from assistant manager to manager for the Combat Grande Project at Torrejon de Ardoz Spain. The base is operated jointly by the U S Air Force and the Spanish Air Force. Hudgins has served on the project since March.

PTO Will Meet Tuesday at Whitewright Elementary

The Whitewright PTO will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday May 11 at 7 00 p m in the elementary school cafeteria. Mrs Gail Clark directs the program explaining the new drill team system with drill team performances. Program awards will be given and the seniors will be honored. All members are urged to attend.

Pre registration for kindergarten students for 1976 77 set for next Tuesday. Charles Pierce principal says children five by Sept 1 are eligible. Parents bring birth certificate immunization record to school cafeteria at 9 a.m. Vaccination: three doses each of DTP OPV measles and rubella or history of measles.

A meeting at the Fireman's Hall on May 13 at 7 00 p m invites all parents of boys aged 8 through 14 interested in Pee Wee Little League and Pony League. Fourteen-year-olds must be born after August 1 to qualify. bring 4 for insurance. Forms available at the meeting.
