The Friday Literary Club held its last meeting of the 1970 71 year with a Spring Festival theme. Mrs Emory Christian reported on gardening tips while Mrs Don Whipple entertained with songs accompanied by Mrs Bill McFatridge. Members exchanged four potted plants and Mrs Charles Sessom was voted into membership. A May 7 party at Mrs Tom Gillett's home honors attendees. Also included is Medicare filing guidance urging prompt claims and Form 1490 notes.
Mrs Royce Jones in upstairs rooms shows a 14 year growing doll collection featuring pixie dolls bride and groom dolls and many themed pieces. She crafts decor items including lampshades from foam egg cartons and has redone mirrors baby shoes and a Yellowstone bear souvenir. The home also features various dolls including topsy turvy and detergent bottle figurines.
A bridal tea shower at the Thomas Gillett residence in Whitewright celebrated Miss Louiane McCarley bride-elect of R H Bob Darwin Jr. Guests included family from Blue Ridge and Whitewright with Mrs Darwins aunt presiding at the punch bowl. The couple plan a May 21 wedding at First Baptist Church Blue Ridge with invitations extended to friends and relatives.

Bethel Baptist Church lauded three senior members at a Saturday banquet attended by 75 members and guests. Honorees were Margaret Henderson Ann Maxwell and Larry Franklin. James Owens gave the invocation and Larry Franklin delivered the response.
A WMU meeting of the WSCS was held Tuesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church with Mrs. J.P. Darwins presiding. Mrs. Douglas Rymere sang Bringing In the Sheaves with piano by Mrs. O L Jones, and the calendar of prayer was read by Mrs. A R McMurray.
