New City Judge Appointed by City Council
H O Lewise, a Whitewright resident for ten months, was appointed city judge by the council at Tuesday night’s meeting. The duties focus on minor lane violations and traffic issues with strict enforcement of sidewalk and horse riding rules. Judge Lewis vows fair treatment for all. He is a retired Continental Oil employee with 36 years in Border and Texan, Texas, and has a large family including wife Mamie, daughter Mrs Charles Pierce, son Dan at Peerless Steel in Carrollton, and pastor Vernon of Stantons Wa. He is an Eagle Scout with Bronze Palm, active in scouting, church, and fishing.

Whitewright to Host Three Day Rodeo Event
The Whitewright Riding Club begins its annual three day rodeo May 13 to 15 with performances daily. A Gospel Singing night May 22 at Sherman Municipal Auditorium features the Florida Boys Four Galileans and Country Johnny Mathis. The Florida Boys lead gospel acts and host a TV program with other guests from Dallas and Hawaii. The event runs from 8 p.m. to midnight.
