A Chamber of Commerce committee held a radio program Tuesday night at the Randolph school house. About a hundred attendees braved rain as Willis and Gordon spoke inviting participation in the farm boys club day program Saturday. A Desert program with orchestra and speakers is planned, with visits to Ida Mahurin and other points to extend greetings from Whitewright.

C L Umberger long time resident who moved to Sulphur Oklahoma twelve years ago died Tuesday morning from apoplexy. He taught in local schools including Canaan Kentuckytown and Grayson College and lived a quiet Christian life. He is survived by Virginia siblings and his wife Clara Head who died in 1898. Burial took place in City Cemetery beside his wife after graveside services by Rev K R Isbell and tribute from Rev J F Fender.

The J. R. Carlisle dry goods store opened Wednesday in the Reed building west of the New York Bar gain store. Carlisle planned a fresh Chicago stock three weeks prior and offered a line of piece goods hosiery and notions. Fort Worth March 27. The Farm Labor Union of America Texas division issued a call for a meeting to be held April 12 13 and 14. Cotton grader salesmen county secretaries and county presidents are urged to attend. The group will discuss organizing state selling agencies and appointing a state selling agent. Denison its to get a fireproof six story hotel occupying a 120 by 150 foot lot with an estimated cost of 250000 exclusive of furniture. A. Q. Simpson and a Denison Chamber of Commerce committee signed contracts this afternoon guaranteeing the project. Architects will visit Thursday to complete plans for bids within thirty days. The Whitewright Board of Education re elected H L Durham as superintendent for another year. F E Douglas joined the board to fill an unexpired term. Under Durham enrollment rose from 400 to about 750 with over 250 transfers from 16 districts and the high school advanced from class B to class A with added curriculum gains.
