Fertilizer Advice for Whitewright Small Grain
Henry Catlett of the Soil Conservation Service says it is not too late to fertilize small grain in the Whitewright area after heavy rains. Any method is acceptable if the total fertilizer per acre meets about 32 pounds nitrogen and 40 pounds phosphate, with soil testing guiding specifics. The Big A machine can fertilize over 500 acres daily at 10 mph, aiding livestock forage and grain yields.

Spray Range Weeds Now in South Texas
Texas A M University Extension range specialists urge spraying range weeds by mid February in South Texas as weeds are up to a good stand south of San Antonio. Two sprayings may be needed for best control with varied weed types. They also advise herbicide or mechanical brush control and chaining when soil moisture allows, followed by seeding in early spring to restore productivity.
