Inspector Visits Rural Mail Routes in Whitewright
A post office inspector examined the four rural routes from Whitewright to assess changes after a vacancy on route two left by Lucian Andrews. Whitewright previously trimmed routes in year by consolidating to four routes. Postmaster Brents expects no loss of carriers this time, possibly shifting personnel from another town. Andrews, who retired after 25 years, began in 1903, one of the first five to serve rural patrons, with rural pay rising from about $60 to about $200 per month.
