Fiddlers Festival to Held at ETSU Commerce Campus

East Texas State University hosts the National Collegiate Fiddlers Festival on June 17 at 6 45 p.m. about 30 fiddlers from Texas and the Southwest compete for 1200 in prize money. Notable contestants include Louis Franklin and Randy Elmore. The Eck Robertson Award will be announced. Admissions are free on the Sam Rayburn Memorial Student Center lawn. Sponsors include ETSA Commerce Chamber of Commerce and local banks.

Chamber Plans July 4th Celebration in Whitewright

American Legion Donates Field to Baseball League

The Whitewright American Legion donates use of the baseball field and two practice fields to the Whitewright Summer Baseball League with conditions. The league governs rentals, scheduling and season priorities, charging 12.50 per game for day or night use, and restricting rentals to Wednesdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m. Restrictions include no trades day games, league authority over outside use, and priority rights after season ends.

Leslie Marion Folsom graduated with honors May 26 from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas. A former Dallas Miss Charm 1973-74, she participated in student council drill ice skating Young Life and Tri-Hi-Y and was a homecoming queen nominee. She has 39 trophies and four crowns from beauty and talent contests in Dallas Fort Worth and Houston, plans North Texas interior design studies, and is the daughter of Roy and Dorothy Folsom.

Baptist Study Aims to Mobilize Texas Baptists

A statewide Good News Texas program proposed by the Baptist General Convention of Texas seeks two million lay persons and pastors to share Christ through ministry evangelism. Dr. L L Morriss said 4.7 million Texans are non adherents, with a spring 1977 mass media drive and over 500000 dollars to be raised this fall via the Mary Hill Davis Offering for State Missions.
