Miss Merle Benton of Dallas visits Mrs. N. R. Childress and others travelers abound as Dallas Fort Worth Bonham and Sherman contacts fill a busy social scene. Local businesses advertise services from auto accessories to shoe repair and medical candidates tour the area.
W. T. Hamilton has been appointed city marshal of Whitewright, the place heretofore held by W. A. Hamilton. Mrs. A. M. Roberts left Saturday for Galveston for an indefinite visit with her son, Howard Roberts, and family. Ray Cates and family and O. C. Hanna and family motored to Caddo, Okla., Sunday for a visit with relatives.
Trent Phillips Jr of Lott Texas is visiting family during a stay in his hometown. He works at a local hardware store and returned for a family gathering.
Mr and Mrs Will Smith announce remodeling and enlargement of their residence currently underway. The project aims to modernize the structure with a broader living space and updated facilities for the couple.
Miss Marguerite Montgomery returned from Dallas where she taught last term and was reelected for next year. We are back from a St. Louis buying trip with large lots of underpriced merchandise being checked into M. C. Spivy & Co., Bonham.
Dr R C Hoyle, Mark Montgomery and Brownie McSpedden attended a convention at Blue Ridge last Sunday. About 1000 people were expected but only a few were present, leaving the event sparsely attended.
W. T. Ross and family are now comfortably located in their home on North Bond street after living in Denison for several months. Lois Anderson of the 1924 local high school class traveled to Commerce on Wednesday to attend the Northeast Texas State Teachers College.
B. H. Garland who relocated to Tom Bean months ago has sold his home to Mr Richardson who plans to move to the city from Tom Bean soon.
At the regular monthly meeting Monday night White Wright Lodge No. 167 A. F. and A. M. elected W. J. Bryan as Worshipful Master H. G. Webster as Senior Warden E. J. Lilley as Junior Warden C. W. Bryant as Treasurer B. H. Thomson as Secretary T. J. Giles as Tiler for the ensuing term.
A warm invitation urges readers to attend Sunday church and dine together afterward. It promises a cooler, more enjoyable option than cooking in a hot kitchen.
J. E. Rutledge gave the Sun editor a generous supply of peaches last Saturday. He runs an orchard and expects peaches from May through October. Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Kight of Hope Arkansas and Miss Nira Vogle of Shawnee Oklahoma visited Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Holcomb for the weekend.
The wholesalers note the close of their spring season as retailers begin theirs. M. C. Spivy & Co. of Bonham says they acquired several highly attractive lots of choice goods last week.
Percy and Lonnie Darwin, Lester Caylor, W. W. Caylor, Joe Stephens and M. Reagan joined a Sherman audience Thursday night to hear James E. Ferguson, candidate for Governor. Clyde Thompson visits from Siloam Springs Ark with colleague John Sangster connected to a newspaper office.
The lodge plans to initiate several candidates at the regular Thursday meeting and will elect officers for the ensuing term.
Miss Helen Thomas will depart during the month for Lubbock to undertake special art decorations and advertising for a large furniture establishment.
Joe McKinsey Jr who attends Baylor Medical College in Dallas was in Sherman with his father for a few hours on Monday.
The American Legion poppy sale raised about $25 and the funds were sent to the national welfare department to aid American war orphans. Local gatherings reported visits from Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Sullivan of Porter and others, while Dr. C. S. Carter bought the S. E. Marshall residence at Walnut and Chapman and plans improvements. W A Carrollon and Dayton Yates rode the Shriners special train to Kansas City for the convention.
Mrs J F Fender will travel Saturday to Waxahachie for Trinity University closing exercises. Miss Margreta Fender, a graduating class member, will receive a degree at the final service next Tuesday.
A 42 pound catfish taken from Red River was brought in by J E Rutledge and others Sunday. Under the knife of Lester Hileman of City Market the fish yielded a Sabbath supper and a blue Monday breakfast for several families.
The plan urges every home tenant house and business within 150 feet of the sewer mains to connect. The district served by the sewer system should be fully sanitized. Advertising reads for Sun office supplies including paper and carbon products.
Local baseball fans organize two teams from city Sunday schools. They meet on the diamond three times weekly on Monday Wednesday and Friday with games called at six o clock. Attendance rises at each game as interest grows.
