Cemetery Gets 46592 Grant for Beautification
A federal special projects grant of 46592 dollars is awarded to Oak Hill and Whitewright Cemetery Foundation to fund labor for extensive improvement and beautification in the two cemeteries in Grayson, Fannin, and Cooke counties. The plan covers fence construction, water lines, tombstone work, road widening, and other upgrades, with about nine people to be employed for 52 weeks under poverty and unemployment eligibility rules. The grant, part of over 500000 dollars approved for 10 projects, awaits final state approval and targets completion in Whitewright’s 1978 centennial year.
