New equipment costing 257 dollars was bought by the White Wright Volunteer Fire Department at its last meeting. James Sonny Gosnell presented the nozzle this week to honor the firemen for their work at the O K Feed Mill fire last month. The department is also considering purchasing a rural fire truck in a long range plan.

AUSTIN Representative Sadler of Percilla seeks a lobbyist pledge and sworn statements from all state representatives by March 15. The measure would require current members to report income gifts retainer fees and other values for 1954 57 period and new members for 1956 end February this year with two year public inspection.

J. A. (Penny) Alsup 81 retired railroad worker died Sunday after a three week illness. Funeral Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Earnheart Chapel with burial at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Survivors include one son Gilbert Alsup and four daughters, 12 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren.
News from Trenton reports Turner McCollom died of a heart attack at his Harlingen home on February 15. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. M. McCollom and spent his boyhood in Trenton. Burial took place in Harlingen.
Leon Turnipseed of Bessemer Alabama sought to deduct a nonmarital partner as a dependent in his 1954 income tax return. The U S tax court ruled that an individual living in unlawful intimacy with a taxpayer is not a dependent under the Internal Revenue Act.
The Robert S. Miller Real Estate Co of Pasadena seeks a village or town for sale in Carson City Nevada. They have offered as much as $100,000 for a village whether inhabited or not.
Mayor R R Summers proclaims March 8 1957 World Day of Prayer in Whitewright urging observance by attending services or pausing at noon. The Sun notes Presbyterian church plans for 4 to 5 pm worship and offering for international work with Mrs H Sears coordinating.

Grayson County plans to pay 12 towns a total of 10900 dollars for 1957 rural fire protection with pro rata shares. contracts will be mailed to mayors for emergency resolutions, based on monthly certified rural fire calls and annual totals. Grayson County 4 H clubs plan activities for 4 H Club Week March 2 through 9 proclaimed by County Judge J N Dickson. A finale includes a weiner roast and program near the power house on Lake Texoma with about a thousand participants.
