Magill Urges 1958 Budget Hold to $68.9 Billion Level
Roswell Magill urges Congress to freeze fiscal 1958 spending at the current $68.9 billion level, freeing about $5 billion for tax and debt reduction. He argues a hold-line would yield a $4.7 billion surplus vs the $73.6 billion receipts forecast, contrasting with the president's larger proposal. Morgan calls the 1958 budget outrageously high.
