The Agriculture Department reported Texas farm operators had an average net income of 2010 dollars, down from 2235 in 1955. Cash receipts and government payments totaled 1.828 billion, versus 1.916 billion in 1955, with state net figures unavailable. The Grayson Baptist Workers Conference planned for March 4 is rescheduled for March 11 at 10 a.m. at Forrest Avenue Baptist Church Sherman with the theme Civic Righteousness. Pastor Woodrow Perrin of Fairview Baptist Church Sherman will deliver the main message.

Team members Noel McKinney Bill McDowell Herbert Taylor Thurman Pool and coach E J Morgan received a banner a 60 dollar chapter prize and a 30 dollar coach’s check.
Texas crime rose 11.8 percent in 1956 over 1955 per Col. Homer Garrison Jr. The gain was largely urban at 14.4 percent, while rural areas rose 2.6 percent. Violent crimes fell overall. burglary theft and auto theft rose. Texas crime pace compared favorably to national trends.

Presley A Short 84 a Whitewright resident for over six decades died at 12 40 am Wednesday in a Sherman hospital from shock after a fall caused fractured hip. Funeral at 2 30 pm today at Barnheart Funeral Chapel with Rev Fred Waldrop. Burial Oak Hill Cemetery. Survived by daughter Leora Short Whitewright son Lester Short Midland brother Houston Short Murfreesboro sister Mattie Lee Short Murfreesboro and two grandchildren.
Mrs. John Smith learns of her sister Mrs. Cora Parker's death in Eugene on March 2. Parker, a former Whitewright resident, was buried in Eugene.

Granville M. Gann 68 of Tom Bean died Sunday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Monday at the family home conducted by Guy Cosand. Burial followed in Holloway Cemetery with pallbearers Mitchell Burk Oran Miller John Hogue Claude Lackey Spurgeon Teague and How ard Feagan. He was born February 5 1889 in Coal Hill Arkansas and married Velma Littrell in 1922 at Tom Bean. He served in World War I and operated an oil agency in Whitewright.
