Texas seals raise 572000 for tuberculosis fund
Texas Tuberculosis Association treasurer Dr Z T Scott reports 572000 raised for a TB war fund from Christmas seal sales. Counties with local associations keep 80 cents on the dollar locally and 20 cents to state and national programs. 77000 Texans have had X rays since county surveys began in 1946. the X-ray unit operates in Grayson and Cooke counties. The note adds a historical pension fact about the 1789 US attorney general.

Veterans to Get Higher Subsistence for Full-Time Training
The Veterans Administration says only veterans enrolled in full-time courses in schools or colleges qualify for increased subsistence allowances signed into law on February 14 by the President. Those in institutional on the job training and other listed programs will not receive the higher rate, remaining at $65 monthly without dependents and $90 with dependents.
