Kay Kimbell of Fort Worth, formerly of Whitewright, gave $1000 to the organ fund, aiding the campaign. Kimbell and former resident Wm Fleming also started an endowment for Oak Hill Cemetery with $10,000 each, growing through local contributions.

Texas teachers meet in Dallas for district annual session
District five of the Texas State Teachers Association will hold its annual meeting in Dallas March 12 13. Weather Machine Falls Near Whitewright South East
Roy Blanton reports a Radiosonde fell Sunday near the home of Mr and Mrs J G Muirhead six miles southeast of Whitewright. Mrs Muirhead mailed it to a weather station per instructions and a $25 reward is paid to finders. The device reportedly records weather from ground to 60 000 feet. This is the fourth such machine found in Whitewright area in recent years. Fort Worth released the machine February 10.

Condemnation On Right-of-Way For FM Road Ordered
Grayson County commissioners launched condemnation for all needed right of way on the Sherman to Pottsboro farm to market road. Owners on Highway 75 were ordered to appear before the court with estimates and damages as easements or condemnations are pursued by March 1. The action aims to clear right of way to allow construction of both the Sherman to Whitewright and Pottsboro roads with eventual state highway commission action in March.

Texas Old Age Pensioners to Get One-Dollar Increase
Texas public welfare records show old-age pensioners on aid will gain about $1 monthly for six months, with March average checks around $31.25 for 201,252 recipients and a projected 202,000 pensioners next month. The 5,512 needy blind will rise to about $34.75, while aid to dependent children of 17,000 will be cut about 12 percent due to funds limits. 18,500 top-amount pensioners remain unchanged.

Ray Gene Cinnamon, age 10, is named outstanding Future Farmer of America for 1947 in Garber Oklahoma. He heads 400 acres with 120 acres of wheat yielding 2454 dollars this year, plus cattle hogs sheep oats and more. His first year out of high school netted over 5000 dollars from combined farming.
