Sherman residents receive hospital visits and health updates. Several families report illnesses and recoveries at Wilson N. Jones Hospital and Bonham hospital. Local births include Roddy J. Bryant born Feb 18. The VFW and church groups hold meetings and plan dances. Obvious travel includes visits to Dallas, Greenville, Honey Grove, and New Orleans.
Mrs. Earl Blanton welcomed members to a Friday Literary Club gathering at her home. The program centered on Art with talks on the Story of Davinci by Mrs. Emory Christian, Rembrandt's Masterpieces by Mrs. Bryant King, and Copley as a Portrait Painter by Mrs. H. L. Crittendon.
Mrs. Glenn Doss led a program on Chinese craftsmanship with a focus on ceramic techniques. Lovely refreshments were served after the presentation.
The Bethel Home Demonstration Club met for an all day session at the schoolhouse with lunch for thirteen members two children and Miss Zelma Moore county home demonstration agent. The group discussed home service area backyard improvements and will meet February 24 in regular session at the schoolhouse. Visitors welcome.
The T. E. L. Sunday school class of the First Baptist Church met at the home of Mrs. Olivia Whedbee with Mrs. W. L. Kincaid as hostess and Mrs. R. L. Morehead co-hostess. Eight members and four associates attended. Mrs. S. T. Montgomery Sr led the devotional and meditation referenced George Washington. Games and quizzes were led by Mrs. Floyd Harris and Mrs. Ed Martin. Tea and cherry pie were served.
Rotary Club program chairman C B Bryant III filled in when the scheduled after dinner speaker could not attend due to icy roads. He improvised a talk on banking and its relation to the community and personal elements in business, turning it into a favorable session.
A hot water heater vented into the attic caused a blaze at the G. W. Cameron residence, 2120 Fairmount, Fort Worth, at 9 20 a m causing an estimated 3100 dollars in damage. The fire was blamed on improper venting and the incident was reported by Vacationist.
Des Moines Iowa farmers at the National Farm Institute expect sharp price drops across crops and livestock. Long-standing growers hedge on the coming year while cattle feeders trim operations and dairy farmers may sell cows. wheat remains depressed, corn and hogs oversold with a possible fall decline.
Four Fannin County commissioners will receive $25 000 each to buy new road equipment. County Judge Glen Finley and Auditor Farris Pirtle will issue warrants. the court will reconvene to approve and contract the issuance.
Two state highway patrolmen will be assigned to Fannin County on or about March 1. State Sen. C. R. Jones was notified by Homer Garrison Jr., director of the State Department of Public Safety. In addition to the two to be assigned.
Bonham and two others will be stationed in Gainesville. Highway patrolmen in Paris and Sherman cover the Bonham territory, but their work is limited by the large area.
