Ida road work resumes with WPA supervisor
Work restarted Tuesday on the Ida highway under WPA supervision led by George R. Dees of Dallas. A three mile gap left when the project paused will be filled in three to four weeks with thirty men and several trucks. William Tell stunt proves fatal for Dallas youth

Barn Fire Near Ector Destroys Hay and Crops
A large barn on Charlie Moore’s farm south of Ector burned Friday night. Norman Moore, a son, lives on the farm. About 300 bales of prairie hay and several hundred bushels of corn and oats, plus a binder, were lost. The estimated loss is around $1,000 with little insurance.

Reckless Driver Smashes Auto Fender in Whitewright
A reckless or drunken driver frightened two women and four children Sunday night near Dr. R. May's home. He rammed a parked car, scraped a fender, and damaged trees, then fled west. He returned Tuesday, paid for damages, and settled a reckless driving fine in justice court.

Uses Typewriter When Penmanship Fails Due to Age
B C Hefner who will be 92 Jan 10 brought his portable typewriter to The Sun office to install a new ribbon. He says fingers grew stiff five years ago and he learned to use the machine. Hefner lives with son O A Hefner northeast of town and was longtime blacksmith at Bells where the editor first knew him.

Cotton production hits 11,704,980 bales before December 13
Census Bureau tally shows this year's ginned cotton totaling 11,704,980 running bales with 271,195 round bales counted as half bales and 12,226 American-Egyptian bales. The crop is estimated at 12,407,000 equivalent 500 pound bales, vs last year's 10,638,000. Reindeer bear antlers in both sexes. Distilling fruit into brandy was an early preservation method in North Carolina.

Young Bandit Caught Leaving Bank Loot
Carl D. West, 24, of Cooper, arrested after attempting to flee First National Bank of Commerce with 1100 dollars. He had locked five people in the vault and is charged with robbery with firearms. Jail Breaker Is Recaptured After Escape
Sherman man Woodrow Wilson Webster, 23, a former Grayson County jail escapee, was recaptured in Cairo Illinois on a clothing theft charge. He had been in three jails since escaping through a ceiling ventilator last June 3 with three others. Only Joe Morgan of Dallas remains at large on car theft charges.
