Whitewright Hires Two Police Officers in Special Meeting
Whitewright city council approved the appointment of Gene Lambert and Douglas McClister as police officers in a special called meeting. Lambert, 30, has seven years as a policeman in Mountain Air and Grant, New Mexico, and will relocate from Durant, Oklahoma with his family. McClister, 38, a retired service member, has been a Dayton, Ohio special police officer and will begin duties January 1. A recent burglary at Pettit’s Grocery highlighted gaps in nightwatch patrols due to no clocking system.

Christmas Open House Highlights Local Decor
Around Town reports Mr and Mrs John Brookshear Cheri and John hosted a Christmas open house last Saturday. Guests from Amarillo Irving Arlington Sherman Whitesboro Whitewright attended as gold and white decor filled the home. Janna Wortham won multiple trophies at Denison twirling contest with 165 entries. PTA sponsored the event with over 50 dollars cleared from the concession stand.

Bank Declares 15 Dividend in 1971 at Whitewright
Whitewright’s First National Bank announced a 15 percent dividend for stockholders this year, totaling $15,000 to all holders.
