After two weeks of rain a wind storm hit Tuesday night with gusts up to 50 mph. A plate glass window at Edwards Chevrolet was broken and a trailer home overturned in the Whitewright area.

Tigerettes Claim Whitewright Tourney Title In Final Thrills
Whitewright hosted a three game run with the Tigerettes sweeping to the girls championship 65-57 over Celina after a 48-8 victory over Ector and a 58-46 win against Celina in the boys and girls openers. Marvin Atterberry led the Tigers with 25 points in a 47-38 win over Ector and 58-46 victory over Celina. The Falcons from Fannin del edged Whitewright for the boys title 48-38. The girls earned consolation honors as Tom Bean defeated Ector 60-23. All tournament picks named Sharron Offill, Carolyn Tillett, Brenda Bing, Diane West, and Eva Jo Wright among others.

Whitewright’s annual Christmas parade drew 45 entries through downtown. Friday Literary Club won best float with a Little Red Wagon Train pulled by a small tractor, each wagon bearing an elf. Best walking display went to Whitewright Twirling Corps in yellow and black. Rod Clark and Jimmy Turner tied for best bicycle. Grayson County Junior Sheriff's Posse judged best riding club. Whitewright Riding Club won first later that afternoon in Leonard. Local judges were Mayor Ray Rice, Lynewood Hogue, and Burl Shields. Cash prizes awarded. another drawing planned. A Capitol flag and Texas flag will soon fly over City Hall, donated by Congressman Ray Roberts and Governor Preston Smith.
