Current funding provides $650 to each of 12 departments with the rest prorated by alarms. new fire protection districts could tax themselves or contract with nearby departments. A rural residents committee is proposed to advance the plan.

Funeral services for Sam D. Massey 89 retired farmer were held Wednesday at 2 30 p m in Barnheart Funeral Chapel. He died Tuesday at a Bonham hospital from a stroke. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter Mrs W H Russell three sons C A Massey Louis N Massey and Walter M Massey five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 30 p m in the First Methodist Church for William Dalby Burns 79 who died Sunday night after a 10 day illness. A former Sherman resident and retired employee of Hardwicke Etter Co. he is survived by his wife two sons a daughter three brothers three sisters eight grandchildren and 12 others. Burial was in Whitemound Cemetery. Born March 17 1878 in Petersburg Tennessee he came to Texas in 1894 with his parents and married Maggie Dickson August 1 1901.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 30 p m in Barnheart Chapel for Ely A Mitchell 75 who died Friday at his home after a five year illness He was a retired farmer Rev Bob Scarborough and Rev Homer Fudge conducted the services Burial was in Oak Hill Mitchell born in Tom Bean in 1882 He married Martha Williams July 6 1902 Survivors include wife four sons three daughters 31 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren
Dr Jack Spindle died on a Dallas street last night after a sudden collapse. Born in Whitewright he was the son of the late Dr and Mrs J F Spindle. He served in World Wars I and II and founded a San Angelo dental office after the war. He is survived by five brothers Grady Los Angeles Frank Sherman Buell San Antonio Cecil Denison Leon Atoka Okla and three sisters E G Gilley Ec tor Lois Gordon Frisco Dorothy Andrews Atoka Okla.
President Eisenhower appointed Sumner G. Whittier ex lieutenant governor of Massachusetts to lead the Veterans Administration. Whittier, 46, will replace Harvey Higley, with a salary of 21000 dollars, and his recess appointment was announced by the White House. Eskimoes are considered akin to the American Indian.
