Death of Edmond T. Doss at 81 in Whitewright Texas
Edmond Thomas Doss, 81, died at his home Friday after a prolonged illness. Funeral services were held Sunday at Barnheart Chapel with Rev. C. C. Dooley and Rev. Fred Waldrop officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery. Survived by his wife Viola Birdwell, son Harold Doss, four daughters, one sister, two grandchildren, and a great grandchild. He was born January 7, 1876, on the Doss farm near Whitewright and lived in several Texas communities before settling in the Whitewright area. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and a large deer antler collection.

Funeral services for Beulah Smith age 64 were held at Marvin Methodist Church in the Ely community. Rev. Millard Fairchild and Rev. John Roberson officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. She died at 6 30 a m Saturday at her home. She was born February 3 1893 in Celeste and lived in Ely since 1905. She taught Sunday school at Marvin Church. The Whitewright Future Farmers of America won two first places at the area leadership contests held at North Texas State College in Denton with 253 boys from 53 teams. The Chapter Farmer team won by 168 points in the chapter conducting contest and the Greenhand Chapter conducting team took first in their division. The Greenhand quiz team finished fifth. Both Whitewright teams, coached by E. J. Morgan, advance to state contests in Huntsville on December 14, leaving December 13.

Vet Land Board to Offer Bonds at 3 Percent
