Christmas Drawings Continue Saturday in Whitewright

Fund drives past goal for Whitewright cemeteries improvement
Mrs Emory Christian announced that the Whitewright Cemeteries Improvement fund surpassed the 10000 target with gifts since the last update bringing the total to 10167. The drive, begun Oct 1, included local and out of town donors and will fund Oak Hill and City cemetery beautification and road work as Whitewright marked its Centennial in 1978. Aubrey McAlister, publisher of The Whitewright Sun, praised for idea and leadership, and the committee members credited for mobilizing the community. Further gifts will be used for ongoing improvements beyond the official close.

Club Seeks Students For Studying Abroad
The Whitewright Rotary club seeks candidates for Rotary Foundation study abroad awards for 1979 80. Awards cover graduate and undergraduate students teachers for the handicapped technical trainees and journalists with round trip transport living and educational funds for one year and possible language training. Up to six awards will be given in District 581 this year including Whitewright. Since 1947 the Foundation has funded over 10 000 students in 127 countries.
