Mike A. Bryant, a meat cutter at the City Meat Market, was shot by Oscar Pierce near J. W. Davidson's grocery store at noon Monday. Bryant sustained multiple wounds from an 82 caliber revolver and is recovering. Pierce was taken to Sherman, waived examining trial, posted bond, and returned home.
Milam Ryon, a prominent farmer from one mile northwest of Whitewright, died December 11 1918 at 8 35 AM after a ten day pneumonia illness. He was 44 and survived by wife four children two brothers and a sister. Funeral at Oak Hill cemetery with Masons of Whitewright lodge No 167 A F and A M in charge. He was a patriotic war supporter and active Mason and Baptist member whose loss was deeply felt by the community.
