Hundreds of red and green lights greet shoppers as Whitewright installs Christmas displays. Stores are decorated with evergreen trees and festive window scenes, funded by local business institutions. Shoppers are urged to ask questions to discover gift offerings across town.

Secretary of Agriculture Henry A. Wallace's Wallace's Farmer magazine was sold at foreclosure in Des Moines for 1,013,000 dollars. The James M. Pierce Corporation, mortgage holder, won the bid with no competing bids. The sale ends receivership begun in 1932. policy and management will not change despite the mortgage. The mortgage debt totaled 2,244,742 dollars with interest dating from 1929.
The Sun will publish on Monday night or Tuesday before Christmas due to Christmas Day falling on Wednesday. The regular Thursday edition moves to the following week. After this issue is mailed, work starts on the annual Christmas Greetings edition carrying messages from Wilmington businesses to customers and arriving Christmas Eve.
Texas Christian University officials plan additional major intersectional games after a Sept. 25 1937 matchup with Ohio State in Columbus Ohio. Southern California and Santa Clara show interest for future contests, with Oct. 24 and the post Thanksgiving date open for 1936 games. Athletic director Raymond Bear Wolf expects to arrange strong opponents for both slots.
City commission and school board opened bids for a federal city construction project combining a school gymnasium and public auditorium. Wood & Elliott of Sherman had its bid accepted at a Monday night meeting and contract data sent to the Public Works Administration in Fort Worth for final approval. The report is expected within a few days.
Sherman Texas law clarifies poll tax payments and exemptions. The comptroller’s ruling sets deadlines for new voters and the age exemptions, with specific dates for townships over 10 000 population and rural areas. Regular poll tax payments must be completed by January 31 with exemptions processed before election day.
St Louis reports Thomas A Fogerty near his 108th birthday recalling a single cough long ago. He also survived a 97th birthday accident when an automobile dragged him twenty five feet. He credits the Lord for his longevity and adds a humorous remark about mending his ways.
Senator Elmer Thomas of Oklahoma calls for still higher farm prices, urging wheat to 1.25 dollars per bushel and cotton to 15 to 20 cents a pound, blaming monetary policy for rising costs and suggesting AAA changes may come. He argues farmers must be better off before city incomes rise.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram outlines 1936 unemployment insurance and 1942 old age pension taxes under the Social Security Act of 1935. It details rates, credits for state funds, exemptions, and the projected growth of the trust funds, with allocations to state and federal accounts and long term reserve projections.
Whitewright High School Tigers win the Grayson County Class B title after a 12 to 12 tie with Whitesboro, awarded on multiple 20 yard line penetrations. The Tigers led in rushing and kicking, finished 8-3-0, and feature 17 players led by captains Teague and Pierson.
W. W. Fitzwater, longtime Fannin County legislator from the 42nd district, died at St. Vincent's Sanitarium in Sherman after a paralytic stroke first suffered May 2, 1935. Funeral services were held at the Philip Wise funeral home in Bonham with burial at Brown Cemetery. He founded and led the Farm Labor Union from 1920 to 1926. Surviving are his wife and ten children.

Pilot Grove School principal Carlee Cummings announces a two day tournament in the new gymnasium this Friday and Saturday. Trophies will be awarded to first and second place and to all tournament team members. Afternoon sessions begin at 1 30 and night sessions at 7 15 with boxing matches added for the evenings.
Stanford University announces all 84 474 Rose Bowl seats are sold for the New Year’s Day game against Southern Methodist. Al Masters says an avalanche of applications continues, with postal officials urging buyers to wait in line at the post office. Refunds will be issued for unsatisfied applicants.
In Newberry Michigan a buck deer kept in the village park fatally trampled town marshal John Barber on Monday. State police shot the deer later. A Sun office carbon clipping notes the incident and the animal had been a community pet.
