The Secretary of Agriculture amended pork processing tax rules effective November 1 1934. Producers who slaughter their own hogs and sell directly to consumers non re sale are allowed 300 pounds live weight exemption per year. Tax applies to pork sold beyond 300 pounds. If selling to a market cafe or hotel that re sells, the purchaser pays the tax and the producer has no monthly returns.
