New Garment Plant To Open Here Jan
A new garment factory will begin operations in Whitewright around January 1 in the former Ray building on Main Street. Mrs Gladys Hefner of Whitesboro owns the plant and plans to hire about 20 machines once open. Applications will be accepted after December 16 and she will move to Whitewright by then. Parkland Sportswear also resumed operations after a seasonal shutdown lasting several weeks.

Billy Baylor Watson six year old son of Mrs Doll Lenderman Watson of Denison died instantly after being thrown from his mother's car in a collision at a Denison street intersection. Mrs Watson and the other driver Mrs T J Lucas of Denison suffered minor injuries. It was Denison s sixth traffic death of the year. The boy s father Lt Fayden Douglas Watson an Air Force pilot was killed in a jet plane explosion a little more than two years ago.
