The Adams Motor Company reports full information on the new Ford will be ready Friday morning. Folders and advertising materials will be distributed and large pictures shown by all dealers. The cars will be displayed in Dallas and Fort Worth Friday, with Whitewright receiving information afterward.

Mercy Plane Aids Son Visit Mother in Charleston

A mercy plane traveling 180 miles in 105 minutes carried J. T. Wilkes and pilot Paul Vance from San Antonio to Waco Texas to catch the Katy Flyer north to Charleston West Virginia. Wilkes aimed to reach his dying mother after missing the fast train, aided by a 20 mile tail wind enabling a timely connection.

Young Husband Held for Goading Wife to Death

Chicago police charge 20 year old Kendall Cowgen with manslaughter in the death of his wife Voila aged 18 who killed herself by gas after an argument in which he supposedly goaded her into despair. He returned home three hours after her death.

Thefts Laid To Society Woman

Ranger Capt. Frank Hamer says a prominent Austin woman confessed to at least three small thefts and doubts she will be prosecuted due to her social prominence. He claims he can show her written confession.

Five youths held after nitroglycerin theft in Greenville

Police recovered six ounces of nitroglycerin from five Greenville youths Tuesday while investigating a stolen car. All five, who list Fort Worth as their home, were detained for further questioning.

Well Known Ely Farmer Died Saturday

A. J. Jasper Robbins a respected farmer from the Ely area northeast of town died Saturday at 9:45 a.m. after a six day illness. Born April 17, 1851 in Franklin North Carolina he married Martha J. Howard on August 3 1884. They moved to Texas in 1900 later settling Whitewright then the Ely community about twenty years ago. He was a member of Enterprise Baptist Church. Survived by wife and children Mrs. J. W. Keeling of Lubbock Mrs. Mae Moore of Abilene Mrs. Gilliam Lindsey of Whitewright Mrs. Howard Stokes of Leonard and Jack Robbins of Ely. Funeral at Enterprise Baptist Church Sunday at 2 30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Cleophus Chumbley with Rev. J. L. Truett and Rev. J. H. Hawkins assisting. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery. Many friends attended from Bethel south of town and Tom Bean.

Bruton Brothers Cash Bank Robbery Case Ends With Deal

H R Bruton pleads guilty in Eighty Seventh District Court to robbery tied to the Tehuacana bank hold up. A forty year penitentiary sentence is agreed by both sides. Bruton’s brother Arthur was sentenced to death last week in the same case. Two other men remain jailed awaiting trial.

Van Alstyne and Whitewright high schools meet Friday at 3 30 p m on the local gridiron in a much anticipated game the first in six years. The affair serves as both a friendly gathering and a genuine football contest with county booby prize implications and a chance to settle modest inexperience and financial goals for the Whitewright Rangers.

City Attorneys to fight street ruling across major Texas cities

Fort Worth city attorneys from Fort Worth Dallas San Antonio Houston and Austin will combine to set aside a state supreme court ruling that municipalities cannot abandon streets. City Attorney R. E. Rouer announced a hearing date to be set this week.

Date Announced for Conquest Campaign Drive

Dallas reports the 1928 Conquest Campaign to raise 1.5 million dollars for Texas Baptist institutions runs January 15 to March 15. Eighteen hundred organizers will solicit pledges before, during, and after the drive. 1927 pledges largely collected as pastors push to close remaining funds.

Misfortunes Bring Four Furloughs for Convicts

In Austin four Texas convicts gained temporary freedom through furloughs granted by the Governor. The men are Homer B. McCannon Minor Payne Harmon Powell and J A Robbins. The grounds cited include a fatal auto wreck four children with whooping cough a dying nephew and a lawsuit.

Negro Arrested On Bad Check Charge

Alvin Jones was arrested by Constable George Bennett on a bad check charge after passing worthless checks to businesses. He confessed to forging three checks. A raid in the industrial district yielded eight gallons of beer, with Columbus Freeman and Jimmie Briggs arrested.

Scout Work Is Discussed in Grayson County Council Meeting

The Grayson County Boy Scout Council executive committee met at the Chamber of Commerce to plan a county field department with a full time field executive. The aim is to extend scouting into rural areas and expand the loan scout program for farm boys. Women Spend More on Hosiery Than Men On Furnishings

Chicago census survey shows women spent 24 million dollars on hosiery last year versus 21 million by men for furnishings. For entire outfits women dropped about 80 million, men about 55 million. The clothing industry overall totals 250 million, ranking sixth after fuel and furniture.
