Insurance on 1940 Wheat Crop Opens in Grayson County
Grayson County wheat growers may obtain insurance on the 1940 crop through the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation. Applications are now being taken at the county AAA office and should be filed before seeding begins. Premiums may be paid in wheat or cash, or in advance via the Secretary of Agriculture for participants in the Agricultural Conservation Program. The 1939 program paid 400,000 bushels into the wheat reserve and returned 1,000,000 bushels in indemnities, with drought as the main loss. Grayson County led participation and is expected to show greater interest in 1940.
