Grayson College Alumni Reunion Set for Whitewright
Grayson College alumni plan a reunion in Whitewright on Sunday September 3 with an expected larger turnout than anticipated. The day starts at 10 a.m. with a chapel service at the high school, followed by talks by ex students and a sermon by an alumnus at 11. A memorial service for former faculty is planned in the afternoon and lunch will be served picnic style on campus.

A convoy of Red River Valley Fair boosters toured Whitewright at noon on Wednesday under Sherman’s Young Men’s Booster Club. The band and workers lunched at First Presbyterian Church then presented a program in the business district. Speakers highlighted 4-H and Future Farmer displays, Dick Piner’s rodeo, a large poultry show, expanded livestock exhibits, and George J. Loos carnival. Burglar Breaks Dry Goods Window And Takes Clothes
A burglar threw a rock through the plate glass at T. W. Ayres & Co. and carried off several items from the window display. Charley Ayres reported three hats, three or four dress shoes, work shoes, two shirts, and suspenders missing, worth about 25 dollars, while the window glass cost about 75 dollars. The theft occurred during a storm, with night officers nearby, and the crime was found only at daylight.

Cotton Ginning Totals in Whitewright Reach 385 Bales
By Wednesday night Whitewright gins had processed 385 bales of cotton, up from 317 on the same date last year. Rain paused picking Tuesday but fields reopened Wednesday with renewed activity as lint cotton brings 9 cents per pound and seed at 15 dollars per ton.
