The 48rd Air Division Rocketeers won the Okinawa Rocket meet at Naha Air Force Base with 7800 points. Lt. John W. Williams led with 2800 points, Lt. John W. Polk Jr. was runner up with 2000 points, as the team prepares for the National Rocketry meet in Yuma, Arizona around October 5.
F C Patterson, 75, died Sunday at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral and burial were held at Junction Tuesday. He lived in Whitewright for about three and a half years and ran a pool hall. He had been ill for weeks before admission. Attendees included Mrs. Clyde Craig and Mrs. Allen T. Short with Mrs. W. J. Cannon of Dallas.
J B Blanton 84 of 8402 Detroit Street Houston died Aug 8 after a long illness. He was buried at Sabinal last Saturday. Retired farmer, formerly of Whitewright and Sabinal. Survived by three daughters, two sons, three brothers W F Blanton Sherman T B Blanton Whitewright B F Blanton Denison and two sisters Grace McLean Albuquerque NM and Mabel Layman Whitewright.

In Pontypridd Wales Arthur Daly a 41 year old civil engineer faced court after police said his wife objected to his plan to marry another woman. Daly was stopped at a register office while attempting to wed Mrs Kaziah May Price after a tip from Mrs Daly who found a letter in her husbands pocket.
