Laura Ison was granted $5,000 bail after arraignment and a habeas corpus hearing on a murder charge linked to the death of a two days old infant. She is the daughter of Haynes son near Bells and recently divorced, her name restored to Ison from Evans.
Twenty complaints for traffic violations were filed in local justice courts Thursday and Friday by Traffic Officer B. Crockett, with most cases settled by fines. In three weeks Crockett has logged fifty-seven complaints, only one or two pending as others pleaded guilty and paid fines. He warns motorists that warnings are over and compliance is required.
A suit for injunction to stop Gray County from selling the 150000 road bond issue for Howe road district No 7 was filed in Fifteenth District Court. Plaintiffs claim election error and are represented by McReynolds and Hay. the county is represented by Wood Jones and Hassell. The case is J E Eatherly et al vs Dayton B Steed et al.
Andrew Carnegie, steel magnate and philanthropist, died at Shadow Brook in Lenox Massachusetts at 7 10 this morning following bronchial pneumonia. He leaves his widow Louise Whitefield and daughter Margaret, married to Ensign Roswell Miller. He gave away about 800 million of his quarter billion fortune, a pace of over 20 million yearly.
Denison reports Roy Smith a 17 year old drowned at Ambrose sandpit pool Saturday night after his companions failed to notice his absence for some time. Judge Moreland ruled accidental drowning with epilepsy mentioned by friends as a possible trigger.
The Dallas motor speedway project in Dal worth near Dallas and Fort Worth has been let for 500000 dollars. Construction will start once materials arrive with five million feet of lumber needed and a concrete grand stand seating 50000. The contractor expects completion within five weeks after ground is broken.
In the past week several farms changed hands as demand for this black land remains strong. R B Gordon sold 117 acres east of town to J M Abbott at 150 per acre. Mrs J S Melver sold 44 acres south of town to Alf Reeves at 260 per acre, a price compared to its 1911 sale of 120 per acre. W S Sanders bought 106 acres from George German about one mile southwest of town.
Prank Alverson, manager of the Farmers Union Gin Company, has the gin plant being prepared for the upcoming cotton season. A seed cotton warehouse for 200 bales is under construction and a seed house moved to the gin yard. The expanded facilities, along with existing buildings, increase storage capacity.

Mr and Mrs S H Barrett and their children left Wednesday for Paducah after spending ten days with Mr and Mrs J A Ragsdale.
Dr. Charles L. Gregory aged 52 collapsed and died at his Greenville Texas residence at ten o clock. The Terrell Hospital for the Insane superintendent under Governor Campbell was not recently ill. The death appears due to heart failure and was rapid, with no prior health issues reported.
Mrs. Mabel Greer of Fort Worth spotted her missing daughter in a movie screen appearance four years after disappearance. Convinced, she sold liberty bonds and bought a ticket to Los Angeles, heading there to reconnect.
