Registration Set Aug 16 in Wright School District
Registration in the White Wright School District will occur August 16 at 1 p.m. at each school. Students will learn of their supplies during this time. Kindergarteners without pre-registration should bring birth certificates and shot records. Buses run at 12:15, return by 2 p.m. First day of regular classes is August 18.

William Brown Rites Held
Funeral services were held for William Curtis Brown Jr a retired Whitewright butcher at Mullican Little Funeral chapel with Rev Jim Gallin and Rev Dennis Hultsman officiating. He died August 4 1976 in a Whitewright nursing home. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery. Brown a native of Whitewright son of Curtis and Mrs Brown Sr married Irene Jacks May 7 1938 in Durant Oklahoma and lived in Bells where his wife taught school. Survived by one brother and four sisters. Pallbearers listed.

Munson Saves Rotarys Day For Program
Ben Munson of Denison who also has Whitewright offices and attends the Whitewright Rotary club chaired a special legislative committee on the barber cosmetologist feud. The lame duck state representative noted 100000 cosmetologists and 16000 barbers in Texas face licensing disputes over who may cut or dress hair. A day long hearing failed to reach legislative action. Rotarian Charles Truska introduced Chuck Wilson Jr as August junior Rotarian. Wilson is a Boy Scout leader with multiple merit awards.

The Boy Scout committee met at the First Methodist Church educational building for breakfast and a business session led by chairman Charles Sessom. Scoutmaster Butch Morgan reported on troop 42 equipment and recent car wash profits, with plans for a September 8 covered dish family night. Dr. Mike Gattis plans a Whitewright veterinary clinic opening September 1 and, with wife Peggy Overstreet, has moved into the Chapman Locust home, with daughters Angie and Paige.
