Prospective Whitewright Tiger players received exams at Dr Geers Clinic in Whitewright and shoes before practice starts. On Aug 9 at 6 am workouts run twice daily for about two weeks. Coach Sessom invites new area students to try out, expecting around 60 hopefuls. Seven offensive starters and eight defensive starters are anticipated to return with the team aiming for a strong season.

Whitewright police chief Leroy Duquette told Rotary members that security relies on citizen effort. He urged homeowners to mark items with numbers, note serials, and keep neighbors informed, while police can respond quickly from Sherman. In business areas two checks nightly on doors are done and merchants await on scene if needed. Jerry L. Jones of Whitewright becomes administrator of Bonham Nursing Center on West Fifth Street. He has seven years in nursing home administration, a Texas A&M graduate in 1966, attended East Texas State University graduate school, and is active in Rotary clubs. His hobbies include archery, fishing, and outdoor pursuits.

Fire Department Heads Meet With City Council
